I started my studies and field work in the 1970s, so there was nothing organic at that time. I kept changing my concepts of what I was doing as a fruit grower, starting to work with regenerative agriculture around 2010 and starting organic production in 2016, together with the home garden that I have always done naturally “without chemicals”. The operation is of a family type with a staff of six permanent workers plus occasional fruit pickers. The land I look after is all declared in ecological cultivation, I also use biodynamic concepts in the care of plants and I have more and more an anthroposophical way of thinking about life.
The destination of the production is very varied and goes a little to each place. We try to help each other with synergies with each of our customers and we don’t give up anything, not even serving a kg of fruit to our neighbor. I have worked for many years trying to supply pantries and it is increasingly clear to me that our work has a responsibility to do it well and with criteria. If we do it right we don’t need to go to the doctor, if we do it right we employ more families who live close to home, if we do it right we show that there is another way of understanding life, where food is not a more consumer item. The power that people have in each act of purchase shapes the world around us.
